Winter Robin

Simon Says Stamp | Peace On Earth

Hi everyone!

If you’re a card maker like me, you’re probably already working on the design for your Christmas or Holiday cards. I know, it seems a bit early, but really, October is the best time to finalize your design (or designs)! This gives you all of November to make the cards and to get them in the mail in early December, so they arrive on time. Can you tell I’ve thought this through?

To help you with your designs, over the next few days, I’ll be sharing a couple of cards I made using the new Winter Birds set from Simon Says Stamp. This set is part of their new Peace On Earth release and is absolutely gorgeous! Birds, berries, and the perfect sentiments – there are just so many options with this set!

My card for today features a robin perched on a berry branch and surrounded by snowflakes. For this card, I used my Copic markers to get the basic colors and blends for the bird and the foliage, then added details using my Prismacolor pencils. With a bit of glitter in the snow and a touch of gold in the snowflakes and the sentiment, this card has the perfect amount of sparkle – and you can’t celebrate the holidays without a bit of sparkle, right?

Have you started planning your holiday cards?   If you haven’t – or if you’re always looking for some great inspiration – be sure to check out the Simon Says Stamp blog!  You’ll find some amazing designs for the Peace On Earth release and much more!

I Hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

  1. Luv this! Any chance you’re willing to list the Copic markers that you used? I’m new to Copic and need to know which ones to buy. Thanks so much for your help.

    • Thank you! I’d be happy to share the Copic colors I used:

      Belly: W0, W1, W3, W5
      Bird feathers: E42, E43, and E44
      Red breast: YR21, YR18, YR23, and YR27

Keep in mind that I also went over the areas with my Prismacolor pencils to add in details.

      Thank you again!
      Jean

I love to make cards and enjoy trying out new techniques and products. My artistic “style” differs almost daily – it just depends on what I’m making, the look I’m going for, who the intended recipient is, and, well, sometimes just the mood I’m in.
