Hi there!
Today I’m sharing two more cards I made using the new Simon Says Stamp release called “Handmade Holiday”!
Like my last card for this release, today’s cards feature the new 3D Christmas Cookie embossing folder. This time, I decided to step up my embossing folder backgrounds by adding some color!
For each card, I experimented with Distress Stain Sprays. I first wet some watercolor card stock, then lightly sprayed a spritz or two of color, then dried it with my heat tool, sprayed it again, and…well…repeat until I had achieved the color I wanted. Once I had the color I wanted, I spritzed both panels with Brushed Pewter to get the shimmery silver effect. The colors I used are listed in the supply list below.
I gave the panels another spritz of water – front and back – before running them through with the Christmas Cookie embossing folder. Giving them this last spritz of water helped ensure that the thicker watercolor card stock would take the embossed image and it helped prevent the paper from cracking. Of course, you’ll need to set them aside to dry completely before you can use them in your card.
I added the Lawn Fawn Jolly Christmas tree to one of the cards – using some silver glitter card stock to bring out the shimmer in the background. To the other card, I cut out a window using the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Stars die and popped it up over the embossed background like a frame. I added a sentiment in silver just to bring out the shimmer in that card.
The Christmas Cookie embossed images on both cards are just stunning in that shimmery green! They really are just so pretty in person! I hope the pictures give you at least the idea.
I’ll be posting one more card using this embossing folder in a few days! Please be sure to check out the Simon Says Stamp Handmade Holiday release!
Hope you have a wonderfully creative day!
