My Favorite Floral Layering Die Set

01/07/2025

Hi there!

Today I’m revisiting my favorite floral layering die set and the one that made me fall in love with layered floral dies:  The Fantasy Floral 3D dies from Altenew.  The 3 layers used to make the flower in this set are super easy to line up.  The dies for the leaves do not have layers but there are 3 different leaf options to choose from.   You can find a couple examples of my past cards using this die set here and here.

This is NOT a sponsored post, and I purchased this die set myself years ago.  I’m sharing this card because I realized over the holidays that I love to learn about products that other card makers love and how they came to be part of this amazing craft – so I thought I’d share my favorites as well.

To make this card, I die cut the 3 layers of the flower and ink blended them so that the darkest color was on the bottom and the lightest was on the top.

I assembled the flower and then determined how I wanted it arranged on my card front.

I wanted to use the negative of the dies for the leaves, so I made a few small marks on a white panel to show the edges of the flower with a pencil.  This helped to show where to die cut the leaves.

Once the leaves were cut, I placed the die cut panel on my card base and used a pencil to note where on the card base I should ink blend for the leaves.  I ink blended the leaves using shades of teal, then adhered the die cut panel over the top of the card base with foam adhesive.  I  adhered my flower with more foam adhesive and liquid glue.

I splattered the card in both white and black, then die cut the “hello” sentiment from black glossy cardstock and adhered it with foam adhesive and liquid glue.

Do you have a product that made you fall in love with a technique?  Or a product you go back to time and time again because it speaks to you?  If so, please be sure to share it in the comments!  I’d love to check it out.

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
