Hi everyone!
Today I’m sharing two cards – one light and one dark – featuring Spellbinders’ new Festive Poinsettia BetterPress Plate and stencil set.
These cards use the same ink colors and have the same layout, but they look completely different because of the color of foil I used.
For the light card, I used white foil. Have you ever used white foil? If not, I hope you’ll try it. It provides a wonderfully soft look without a lot of shine. By foiling with the Festive Poinsettia press plate, I was able to foil the background and the details in the poinsettias, leaves, and pinecones – making them white.
For the dark card, I used black foil. This resulted in the background being black, along with all the details in the poinsettias, leaves, and pinecones. I feel like black foil adds a lot of drama to a card. There is shine, too, of course, but not as much as a metallic like gold or silver would have (and those colors would be gorgeous too)!
Both cards were ink-blended using the coordinating stencil and the same ink colors (see Supplies list below). I used a strip of vellum as a band around each, along with a bit of coordinating twine tied into a bow. I then used the Home for Christmas BetterPress plate and dies to foil the sentiments in black and die cut them – adding them to the card front with foam adhesive.
A few sequins for some bling and these cards were complete! I hope you like them and that these cards inspire you to try using black and white foil on your creations!
I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!
I like your color combos on these beautiful cards. I love purple.
Thank you, Bo! I was so happy with these cards and loved how different they looked just by changing the background with the different foils. So much fun!
