Sending Love (Again)

Spellbinders | Beeblossom
04/28/2022

Hi everyone!

I can’t believe April is almost over!

I thought these gorgeous Beeblossom dies from Spellbinders’ new “Through the Garden Gate” collection would be a perfect way to celebrate spring. Beeblossom (also called gaura) is a perennial – which is perfect for me since I’m not much of a gardener, but I do like pretty things. 😊

I broke out of my comfort zone a bit with a textured background on this card and I just love how it turned out! You’ll have to let me know what you think!

To make this card, I used a stencil and white embossing paste to create the textured background and set it aside to dry. Meanwhile, I colored my flowers by ink-bending them and using a yellow Copic marker for the tips of the stamens. I formed the flowers and leaves using Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit – which includes several tools that help you form the petals and leaves to give them dimension. Once the flowers were formed and my background was dry, I assembled the flowers and arranged them on my background.
I layered the card front onto my card base, hot-foiled a sentiment, and added a few gold sequins to finish the card. I hope you like this project and I’d love to hear what you think of the background! Have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
