AECP: Seasonal Scene Building

Hi there!

I’m trying something completely new (to me) today – creating a scene on my card!

This card is my project for the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) class called “Seasonal Scene Building”. For this card, I thought the Altenew Goldfish Pond stamp and die set would make a fun pond scene.

I started by stamping the fish in Versamark ink and heat embossing it with gold embossing powder. I then added color to the fish using the layering stamps included in the set.

I stamped the lily pad and seaweed images using a thumping technique (inking the stamp with the lightest color and then gently “thumping” darker colors here and there over the image to create color variation before applying the stamp to the paper).

I die cut an oval and created an oval frame from Neenah Solar White 80# card stock using the Hero Arts Nesting Ovals die set to create a “window” for pond on the front of my card.

For the water, I used the Altenew Ribbon Waves 3D embossing folder to emboss the gentle waves from Navy cardstock.

I die cut the fish and plants and arranged them inside the oval “window”, adhering the lily pad and one of the plants on the “water” background within the “window”.

I used foam tape to pop up the “window”, and then adhered the fish and more seaweed – arranging them to make a pond scene in and around the “window”.

I used the Simon Says Stamp Hello Beautiful Gorgeous die set to cut the “hello” die from the set out of Tim Holz’s Metallic Kraft Stock in gold.

I added a few gold metallic gems to add some sparkle and tie the gold embossing on the fish and the gold of the sentiment together and creating a cohesive look.

This pond scene turned out fantastic! I love the depth and dimension – and the gold sparkle!

All the best,
