There’s something about bright colors that always make me smile! Today’s card is my submission for the Altenew Educators Certification Program (AECP) class called “Polychromatic”. I chose to focus on the first lesson which was all about “white with a pop of color”. I think I nailed it with this card, how about you?

For the shine on this card I used a black glaze gel pen on the watermelon seeds and a shimmer pen called “Wink of Stella” on the insides of the melon.

Instructions:

1.Die cut a stitched frame from white card stock.

2. Die cut a piece of watercolor card stock that fits your frame.

3. Wet a squiggle of clean water on your watercolor card stock and drop in the Rubellite color from your watercolor brush. Set the panel aside to dry.

4. Use your watercolor brushes to apply a thin layer of watercolor ink directly to your melon and stamps and stamp the images onto watercolor card stock. You want to be light with the liquid here so that it doesn’t bleed. You aren’t looking for a full color impression in this step – just enough so that you can see the shape.

5. Use your watercolor brushes to apply more color directly to the stamped image – this allows you to build up the color to the level you desire.

6. Once your melons are completely dry, stamp the seeds in black.

7. Die cut the melons.

8. Once your background panel is dry, stamp the sentiment in black and adhere the frame.

9. Arrange and adhere your melons to the panel.

10. Adhere your panel to the card front with foam adhesive to give it a bit of dimension.

11. Go over the seeds in your melons with the black glaze gel pen and let it dry.

12. After the black glaze is dry, go over your watermelon with your shimmer pen.

There were so many possibilities for this class! I love the “white with pops of color” lesson and am already thinking of other designs I can do with it. This card? Well, it’s just so bright and cheery! I hope you like it!
