Purple-Blue Glads

11/22/2021

Hi everyone!

When I was growing up, I remember our neighbor lady, Marion, always planted a huge garden full of Gladiolus – or “glads” as she called them. When they bloomed, I would go over to her house, help her cut them, and carry them inside. They were so lovely – large, delicate-looking blooms all on one tall stem. Some of them were even taller than I was!

Today, I’m sharing a card I made using the new Gladiolus die from Susan’s Garden Club collection at Spellbinders which reminds me of Marion and all her larger-than-life gladiolus stems! I decided to make this gladiolus a soft blueish purple with darker edges on the ruffles of the petals, but glads come in many, many colors.
I still think of Marion whenever I see glads in a garden or a vase. These flowers suited her perfectly. I hope you like this card and that you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
