Spellbinders | Garden Shutters Collection – Sending My Love

Hi everyone!

Today I’m sharing another card I made using the Primrose Heart Façade die set that was just released by Spellbinders as part of their new Garden Shutters Collection by Becca Feeken.

Today’s card started without a plan, which is so incredibly rare for me. All I knew was that I really wanted to make something with blue flowers and that the Primrose Heart Façade die set would be perfect for it.

I die cut the flowers and leaves out of Copic XpressIt paper and used my Copic Markers to color them. I used the following Copic markers:

  • Primrose Flowers: B34, 37, and 39
  • Primrose Leaves: YG03, G07, G14

Once I had all the primrose colored and assembled, I decided that the teeny tiny flowers in the Spellbinders Spirea die would make a wonderful addition to the bold primrose blossoms. This was truly a labor of love! Each tiny flower is 2 layers that had had to be glued together and shaped. I added a bit of green to the center of each before assembling dozens of them onto each spirea branch. I admit that I second-guessed my choice in doing this more than once, but honestly, it really didn’t take that long and I think the results are AMAZING! I’m so happy I stuck with it! The Copic colors I used:

  • Spirea flowers: YG17, 67
  • Spirea leaves: YG17, 67, G29
  • Spirea branch: E79

Once all (bazillion 😉) of the flowers were assembled I arranged them on a card panel to test the layout. I decided that the panel needed a bit of geometric texture at the bottom so I used a piece of ribbed paper I had in my scraps, added a strip of navy card stock, and then glued my flowers in place. For some shine, I foiled a sentiment and added some moonshine sequins.

For not having a plan, I think this card turned out pretty great! What do you think? Do you always have a plan when you create?

Hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

  1. That is one gorgeous card! The copic coloring fooled me. I thought the blue primroses were layered die-cuts. I have never heard of spirea but they are so pretty!
