Blooming in Blue

01/28/2025

Hi Everyone!

I’m playing with more of the gorgeous floral products I received over the holidays and for my birthday – lucky for me, my wish list was long and I received a few gift cards, too, so I’m hoping to continue creating with florals all year!

Layered floral dies are one of my absolute favorite crafting products.  They have a way of bringing depth and dimension to any project, and I think that’s exactly what makes the birthday card I’m sharing today stand out.

For this card, I used Altenew’s *Garden Rose* die set to create the bold, layered blooms in vibrant shades of blue.  The layered aspect of the dies makes the flowers practically pop off the card and creates a lifelike look.  And these are some of my favorite blue inks from Altenew, too.

The thing I love most about layered floral dies is that every one of us could make a card using the same die set but everyone’s flowers would look completely unique AND absolutely perfect.

I paired my flowers with olive-y-green leaves, a softly inked background, and a simple “Happy Birthday” sentiment.  The metallic sequins add the perfect finishing touch for a bit of sparkle.

Layering these die cuts was so satisfying and made all the difference in bringing the design to life. What’s your favorite technique for adding dimension to your cards? Let me know below!

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
