How Did I Get So Lucky?

03/01/2022

Hi there!

St. Patrick’s Day is almost here!

Four years ago, on St. Patrick’s Day, we brought home our new puppy, Riley, and I have felt like the luckiest person in the world every day since! She is funny, persistent, sweet, loving, and incredibly talkative. Her personality is WAY bigger than her 16 lbs. and she makes me laugh out loud every day.

So, while the world will be drinking green beer and eating Dublin coddle and corned beef, Riley will be celebrating her “gotcha day” with extra treats and snuggles and, weather permitting, a long walk with lots of great things to smell and explore.

Which brings me to my card for today – How Did I Get So Lucky? It’s a phrase I say to Riley regularly when she is being particularly good or snuggly… or I’m just feeling sappy and incredibly blessed to have her. 😊 This card features the Gnome Lucky stamp set and the Linking Lucky Clovers die from the Simon Says Stamp “Good Luck Charm” release. I heat embossed the Gnome Lucky image onto watercolor cardstock and then used my new Altenew Hawaiian Shores pens to watercolor the image. I am absolutely in LOVE with these pens – they were so easy to blend, the colors mixed perfectly, and the fine tip allowed me to add in extra details.
When I saw that “How did I get so lucky?” was one of the sentiment strips I knew it would be a perfect way to bring Riley’s Gotcha Day and St. Patrick’s Day together onto one card. I have no idea how I got so lucky with Riley – but I am eternally grateful for her every day. Hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
